In
this age of globalization and improved communication, cooperation between
organizations is key to optimal and effective program implementation. By
combining our resources and knowledge with those of organizations and
individuals with similar interests, we are better able to respond to the
needs of children with disabilities and their families. At
Equip K.I.D.S. International, we have formed partnerships with many
organizations and individuals from around the world. The
Tides Foundation,
from California, USA, supports our work through their Global Support Fund.
This fund enables American donors to give to Equip K.I.D.S. International
(through Tides) and receive a valid income tax receipt. For more
information about our relationship with the Tides Foundation and how you
can give through Tides, click
here. The Nine Tuna Foundation, from Michigan, USA, is an important supporter of Equip KIDS work and has contributed both to our programs, as well as to the upcoming conferences in Cusco, Peru. Through
Hope
Haven International Ministry’s (USA) generous donation of 25
pediatric wheelchairs and walkers (October, 2002), we were able to provide
many children in Southern Peru with a new form of seating and mobility. In
addition, Hope Haven has provided us with some wonderful parts for our
production program. With
a grant from the Norwegian Red Cross,
we were able to purchase electric tools for our production program, thus
increasing our efficiency and productivity in this area. Hogar Clinica San Juan de Dios de Cusco is a pediatric rehabilitation centre we work closely with in Peru. It is where we implemented our first augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) program. The centre is home to 40 children and provides services to hundreds of external patients. The
WorldVOCA project (USA) provided us with electronic communication
devices, giving our Augmentative and Alternative Communication program a
kick start. Our
many international volunteers have supported us with their time,
services and expertise. And
finally, as a founding member of RIADIS
( Ibero-American
Network of Non Governmental Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and
their Families) we are able to work with other organizations
from around South and Central America and the Caribbean to improve
conditions for people with disabilities throughout those regions.
